Lets Talk About Hemorrhoids

Posted on Monday, March 29, 2010 at 4:58 am

Lets talk about something that most of us may have, but don’t necessary feel comfortable enough to talk about. Yes I am talking about hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids can really be a tough subject to talk about. Most people who have hemorrhoids are embarrassed to tell there friends or even go to the doctor for treatment. The good part is that there are excellent hemorrhoid treatments that you can do at home. Usually home treatments will include diet, exercise, hygiene, and ointments.

Most over-the-counter creams will work for symptoms such as itching. It usually wont cure it, but helps relief symptoms. Treating hemorrhoids naturally at home is what most people choose to do. While surgery is an option most people will try out all the natural and herbal treatments first. And we strongly agree as well. No one wants to under go anytime of surgery or procedure unless they absolutely have to.

While it is embarrassing to go visit your doctor, it is still advised to do so for testing. Getting your condition properly diagnosed is always a smart idea. There are other diseases which may have similar symptoms as hemorrhoids so getting a proper diagnoses is key.

You need to be careful when looking for different types of hemorrhoid treatments online since most won’t work. Be sure to do your research and evaluate your sources.

The biggest mistake people make is thinking that there is a treatment that will help everyone. You have to understand that hemorrhoids treatment will vary from person to person. What works for your friend might not work for you at all. Try different treatments and different products. Share any information with other hemorrhoid sufferers to help each other.

Health Insurance

Topic of today…? Health! Or rather, pros and cons of private medical insurance. I never thought so of getting private health insurance – it’s almost like you’re giving up on private medical insurance, it feels like you’re consciously giving up something that’s free (even though we all pay for the NHS through our taxes).

I guess my idea of private medical insurance was that if you get ill, you can go for the NHS, or you can spend your own money and get faster treatment privately, where they treat you like a royal, as quickly as possible. When I was younger, I had this idea of private medical insurance as being access to the highest technology of medication. I’ve now actually been opened to a whole world of benefits my private medical insurance brings me. My private health insurance gives me gym membership discounts as well as the peace of mind knowing that if anything happened to me and I needed to be diagnosed quickly, I wouldn’t have to wait. I like to have control over my life, not wait around for something to happen to it. Also – and this is the best thing about my PMI, I wish I had known this sooner – I have access to a 24 hour stress helpline. This has been a fundamental process in making me a happier person. Check it out!

Bear This in Mind Before You Buy Acai Berry Products

Posted on Friday, January 29, 2010 at 7:30 am

Acai berry products, as you’ve probably heard are causing quite a storm amongst those who are health conscious. Although the fruit only grows in Brazil Americans and Europeans are finding ways of getting hold of these products to be able to benefit from them. Even celebrities such as Brad and Angelina, Oprah Winfrey and Julia Roberts have all endorsed their potential and claimed to take them on a daily basis.

It is not possible to buy Acai berry fresh unfortunately, therefore consumers are buying in juice, powder or capsule form. Acai berry capsules are the easiest to store and consume, they also contain more pure Acai than the other forms, not to mention the fact that they are cheaper. Acai berry pills are therefore the most popular and effective version.

With it’s growing popularity it’s unsurprising ruthless manufacturers are using the name ‘Acai’ to to scam people and make a quick profit. Using ‘Acai’ in the label means the products will sell. Look out for these 3 things when looking at Acai berry offers online:

1. If you see a free trial, ensure it actually is free and there are no other costs to pay besides postage.

2. Postage costs should be around $3 to $5 per bottle of Acai capsules. It should certainly not be any more than $6, if you see anything above this price then it’s likely to be a fake product.

3. Make sure the main ingredient is Acai extract and not an Acai replacement or a flavouring. Without the pure Acai you might as well be buying a packet of sweets!

Which Food Should Pregnant Women Say Yes to?

Which Food Should Pregnant Women Say Yes to?

Eating well for a pregnant woman means a lot more than increasing her food intake; it means she must also consider what she should eat and how much. For example, a pregnant woman would need about 300 extra calories each day during the last stage of her pregnancy.

This doesn’t mean that she can eat anything that provides those extra calories. Calcium is yet another important nutrient for a pregnant woman and her developing baby. This means having extra calcium for the fetus to consume. What a pregnant woman is supposed to do then is to look for nutritious sources of calories so that these can contribute to her baby’s growth and development.

The baby inside the womb depends greatly on the food that his mother provides for him. Therefore, it is important to eat only what is good. Here is a basic list of great nutrition for expectant moms:

• Lean meat, poultry, egg whites, fish (except tuna, mackerel and shark which are all loaded with mercury), tofu, beans and peanut butter. These are rich in protein which is needed for cell growth and production of blood.

• Milk, yoghurt, cheese, salmon, sardines, and spinach. These are rich in calcium for stronger bones, teeth, better nerve function, and muscle contraction.

• Bread, rice, potatoes, cereals, fruits, vegetables, and pasta. These are rich in carbohydrates which help provide energy.

• Green, leafy vegetables; carrots, and sweet potatoes are rich in Vitamin A. These foods can give good eyesight, healthy skin, and strong bones.

• Lean red meat, whole-grain breads (preferably those that are fortified with iron), and spinach are all rich in iron for healthy red blood cells. And since pregnant women are more prone to anemia, iron is a must to their daily diet.

• Broccoli, tomatoes, citrus fruits, and juices are all rich in Vitamin C. This vitamin is essential to having healthy gums and teeth; healthy bones; and it also aids in iron absorption.

• Pork, bananas, whole-grain cereals which are rich in Vitamin B6 (great for the production of red blood cells).

• Other essential vitamins and minerals include Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, fat and folic acid.

Remember to eat in moderation each time and you should be able to attain the doctor-recommended weight for pregnant women (about 25-35 pounds more than your prior to pregnancy weight).
