Coffee is a popular beverage which many of us drink on a daily basis. People who drink 3 to 5 cups of coffee in a day are considered as moderate consumers of Coffee. Coffee contains large amount of caffeine – a flavorless alkaloid that simulates our nervous system. This is the reason why most of the coffee-addicts (who drink excessive amount of coffee) find it difficult to concentrate on their work if they fail to drink Coffee for a prolonged period of time. This tolerance level may differ on a case to case basis and on an Individual’s health condition. Despite the addiction factor, Coffee is believed to have plethora of health benefits. Let me list out some of the health benefits of Coffee – which I have collected through various trustable sources like health site, health blog and research findings.

Reduces the risk of Type 2 Diabetes

Various studies have shown that consumption of coffee can reduce the risk factor of Type 2 Diabetes (aka Adult onset or Non-Insulin dependent Diabetes). It is believed that coffee aids in insulin secretion by improving the glucose metabolism in our blood.

Reduces the risk of Parkinson’s disease

Parkinson’s disease is a neurological disorder caused by gradual deterioration of brain cells – characterized by bradykinesia, stiffness in muscles, trembling of arms etc. Some recent studies have shown that drinking Coffee can help to reduce the risk of Parkinson’s disease (mostly for men).

Helps in managing Asthma

As coffee contains caffeine, it is believed that it could help Asthma patients feel better (in terms of breathing) however it cannot be considered as an alternative for medications. A cup of strong coffee can be extremely useful when you suffer from an Asthma attack and realize that you don’t have your inhaler handy.

Reduces the risk of Cancer

Researchers believe that drinking coffee (in a moderate level) can help us to prevent from various cancers like skin cancer, liver cancer, bladder cancer, breast cancer etc. Studies are still ongoing to find the exact information related to coffee consumption and its impact on preventing cancers.

Reduces pain

A recent study conducted by Professor Robert Motl (University of Illinois) on college-aged boys reveals that Coffee consumption significantly reduces pain caused while performing regular exercises like cycling.
